Mesut Ozil Set To Join Barcelona

Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil could leave the club for Barcelona in next year’s January transfer window.
According to Sportsmole, the La Liga champions are willing to sign the former Germany international on a loan basis with an option to buy him at the end of the 2019/2020 season.
The newspaper reports that Ozil could serve a replacement for forward, Ousmane Dembele at the Camp Nou, with Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde reportedly ready to sell the Frenchman due to his attitude at the club.
Ozil has fallen out of favour at Emirates since manager, Unai Emery took over from Arsene Wenger.
The 30-year-old only made just 24 Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season.
Ozil, a former Real Madrid star, has not been regular for Arsenal so far this campaign.
He will hope to feature for Arsenal when they take on Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday night at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer Reveals The Clubs That Can Stop Man United From Finishing In Top 4

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named four clubs that can stop his side from finishing in the top four positions on the English Premier League (EPL) table this season.
Solskjaer stated that Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City could stop the Red Devils from qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League by taking the two spots in the top four position on the EPL table this term.
Solskjaer’s men are currently sitting on eleven positions on the Premier League table with eight points from six games ahead of tonight’s clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
“The top two last season were too far ahead from the rest of us,” Solskjaer told reporters at his pre-match press conference ahead of Man United’s clash against Arsenal on Monday night.
“But I think we should be in and around the places behind there. Chelsea are going through a similar period of rebuilding.
“There’s Arsenal, Tottenham, us, you’ve got Leicester. There are loads of teams wanting those positions and that’s where we’ll be, in and around.”
The kick-off time for the match is 8pm.

Solskjaer Reveals The Star Player He Will Sign For Man United In January

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said he would be looking to sign attacking players, when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Solskjaer sanctioned the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer, without bringing in replacements.
United now face the prospect of handing 17-year-old Mason Greenwood, a first Premier League start of the season against Arsenal on Monday, because of injury doubts over Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
The club will aim to do the bulk of their transfer business next summer, but Solskjaer is open to signing a new striker in January.
“We let Alexis and Romelu go, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that it’s a forward that next time we’re going to recruit – we’re looking for some creativity and goals,” Solskjaer told reporters ahead of the game.

Buffon Reveals What Made Him Not To Win The Champions League

Juventus legend, Gianluigi Buffon, has said he “thanks life” for not letting him win the Champions League.
According to the 41-year-old, his failure to win the competition, has allowed him to continue playing football.
The Italian goalkeeper has a lengthy list of both personal and team honours to his name, yet the Champions League trophy remains elusive.
The Italian has won nine Serie A titles with Juve, and has clinched the Coppa Italia five times, including once with former club Parma.
Buffon also won a Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain last season in his only campaign outside of Italy, having also helped his country to the 2006 World Cup.
“For me it’s a huge stimulus and I have to thank life for not letting me win [the Champions League] yet, otherwise I would ask myself why I still play.
“It is great to be still in the running and try again, but there is no agreement on playing at least one game in Europe in the season, we are at Juventus and not in an amateur club, I play when I am called in by the coach,” Buffon said, according to Goal.
The Juventus legend has come close on three occasions, losing the 2003 final on penalties to Serie A rivals, AC Milan, before falling to Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid in the 2015 and 2017 finals, respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo Scores On His Return From Injury

Cristiano Ronaldo returned from injury with a goal as Serie A champions Juventus maintained their unbeaten start to the season by beating SPAL.

Ronaldo had missed the win over Brescia with an adductor problem, but powered home a header in the second half.

Juve took the lead through Miralem Pjanic’s stunning curling strike on the stroke of half-time.

SPAL keeper Etrit Berisha made stunning saves to keep out close-range headers from Aaron Ramsey and Sami Khedira.

Meanwhile, legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, 41, played his 903rd career game, a record for an Italian player, surpassing former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini.

Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan returned to the top of the table with a 3-1 win at Sampdoria.

EPL: Man Utd defender Barcelona wanted to buy this summer revealed

Victor Lindelof’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has claimed Barcelona tried to sign the defender from Manchester United, after Matthijs de Ligt rejected them to join Juventus.
The Catalan side were one of the leading contenders to sign De Ligt from Ajax, before he made a €75million move to Italy in July.
Barca turned their attention to Lindelof before the transfer window closed, but he ended up signing an extension earlier this month.
“Lindelof was perhaps Man Utd’s best player last season, and there was a lot of interest from clubs that are even better [than United] at the moment.
“When Matthijs de Ligt chose Juventus, Victor was pronounced Barcelona’s first choice.
“His way of playing, his DNA, is very close to Barcelona’s way of playing. He is one of the world’s best centre-backs with the ball at his feet, and Barcelona wanted him. That’s how it was. I can talk about that now.
“They contacted Ed Woodward on numerous occasions with concrete offers. I had a meeting with their transfer manager, Matt Judge, to try to make a transition. But they just said: ‘There is no chance. Victor is one of our best players’.
“It ended up being a new agreement instead, even though Victor actually had three years left. Usually, they do not make extensions with players who have so long left on the contract, but when there was an interest at this level they had no other option,” Cetinkaya told Aftonbladet.

Chelsea manager, Lampard blasts FIFA

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has blasted FIFA’s decision to award Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds, their Fair Play accolade on Monday.
The veteran Argentine coach and his players were awarded the Fair Play Award, for allowing Aston Villa to score against them in April.
Angry scenes broke out after Mateusz Klich scored for Leeds, while Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia lay injured on the field.
Bielsa insisted Leeds, despite the attempts of former defender Pontus Jansson to stop them, allow Villa to score immediately from the kick-off.
Lampard told reporters: “I don’t think it’s right, to be straight.
“It’s strange. Everyone had the same reaction. There was a lot of news about “SpyGate,” at the time, quite rightly so, and it got dealt with in the right way – and when you go and give an award for fair play in the same year, it’s strange.
“I don’t know who votes for it. Everyone knows what happened with “Spygate” – it is well documented. The rules changed because of it and they were fined.
“I felt it was improper, to get a fair play award off the back of that. I thought it was irony at first.
“It was a dead rubber against Villa. The game had slowed down to the point of the ball going out, and it was quite right they gave Villa the opportunity to score.
“It was quite right to level out the balance of what had happened. That was that. But it was a strange decision for them to win.”

EPL: Guardiola reveals why Man City will not buy more players in January

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted that they “won’t be able to buy in January”, after injuries and departures have reduced his defensive options.
Long-standing captain, Vincent Kompany, left for Anderlecht before injuries in quick succession to Aymeric Laporte and John Stones, saw Guardiola’s centre-back choices significantly decimated.
But Guardiola, who has been playing defensive midfielder Fernandinho at the back alongside Nicolas Otamendi, insists that he will not be bringing in back-up when the transfer window reopens in a few months time.
“That is not my business but in January, we are not going to buy because we don’t have money to pay a huge amount in the summer so we cannot do it in winter.
“We are going to stick to the players we have, with [Taylor] Harwood-Bellis and Eric [Garcia] and with the new players in the academy. We have young, talented players and we can count on them.
“Vinny [Kompany] was an incredibly personality and he was incredibly helpful to me and the whole club, but he decided to go to Anderlecht and we have to move forward. That is what it is and so far, it has been perfect,” Guardiola told Soccer Saturday.

FIFA angry with Cristiano Ronaldo for snubbing The Best Awards

FIFA is furious with Cristiano Ronaldo, over his failure to turn up at The Best awards gala in Milan on Monday night, Marca reports.
Ronaldo had been on a three-man shortlist for the award, along with Messi and Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
The Portugal captain was also in the running to be named in this year’s World XI.
It is understood that FIFA staff had expected Ronaldo to be present at the awards. They thought he was coming along with teammate Matthijs de Ligt as late as Monday afternoon.
The world football governing body is now disappointed with Ronaldo for the no-show, especially as he is now based in Turin, which is 150km from Milan.
It is believed that Ronaldo’s decision not to attend, pointed to him knowing that it was Messi who had won the award, although his camp claims it was purely to do with the injury.

EPL: Man Utd identify Solskjaer’s replacement

Manchester United are eyeing Paris Saint-Germain manager, Thomas Tuchel, as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, if the Norwegian cannot inspire an improvement at the club, Daily Mail reports.
Although, they have won their last two games, United went through a poor spell before, where they drew with Wolves and Southampton and lost to Crystal Palace.
Their performances have also left a lot to be desired and many believe Solskjaer may not last much longer, unless he can turn things around quickly, starting with a win against in-form West Ham on Sunday.
It is understood that Tuchel is the man who the powers that be at United are keeping tabs on to step in, if Solskjaer is eventually relieved of his duties.
The 46-year-old German has been in charge at PSG since 2018 and led his side to the Ligue 1 title last season.
Tuchel is under contract until 2021 and it is unclear whether he would be willing to give up Champions League football to join United.
Solskjaer’s side have a tricky looking upcoming schedule, with Arsenal and Liverpool to play before the end of October, as well as the trip to West Ham.
His future may depend on how United perform in these games.
