Luis Suárez has reached another record. After overcoming an injury that, together with the stoppage for Covid-19, meant he had not played for six months, the Uruguayan has overtaken Ladislau Kubala on 195 goals thanks to his finish against Espanyol.
Barça’s No.9 had beaten Josep Samitier’s 184 goals earlier this season, on October 29 after scoring against Valladolid, but now he’s on the podium alongside the Hungarian.
Non-stop scoring since 2014
The striker arrived at the club in the summer of 2014 and since his first goal on 25 November of the same year against Apoel, he hasn’t stopped finding the net. In the 2014/15 season he scored 25 goals, despite a FIFA sanction; in 2015/16 and 2016/17 he managed 59; in 2017/18 he scored 37 and last season (2018/19) he netted 31. This season, Suárez already has 18 despite a long-term injury.
In his six years at the Camp Nou, Suárez has played a total of 278 games in all competitions and his goals have been distributed as follows: 146 in the league, 23 in the Champions League, 19 in the Copa del Rey, five in the Club World Cup, one in the Spanish Super Cup and one in the European Super Cup.
Of those, 143 were with his right foot, 33 with his left and 19 with his head. Valencia are the team that he’s scored most goals against (12), followed by Real Madrid and Sevilla, with 11. As for the stadiums he’s scored in, it’s a quadruple tie: the Santiago Bernabéu, Benito Villamarín, los Cármenes and Riazor are the four stadiums where he has scored the most goals -apart from the Camp Nou-, with a total of five at each ground.
In terms of titles, he has already won a total of 13 as a culer: four leagues, four cups, a Champions League, two Spanish Super Cups, a European Super Cup and a Club World Cup.
Scores and assists
Apart from his goalscoring figures, the Uruguayan has also stood out for his assists. He has a total of 97, of which 11 have come this season. Last December, he was handed the best player in the league award, in a month in which he scored three goals and provided six assists in five games.
